This week we have a rather unique guest blog for you all. We’re here to introduce a new and exciting outlook from Gloria Nilson Co. & Real Estate and their insight on the benefits of hiring an interior designer to boost the appeal of a home when it comes time to sell. You will see that through this real estate team’s detailed knowledge and experience with selling professionally designed houses and through our visual work, along with fellow designer work, that hiring an interior designer is absolutely worth it. Realtors know better than anyone else, that the overall look of a house is a major deciding factor for buyers. We as designers value that appreciation and are thrilled that real estate agents are here to help spread the word!
Whether you have just purchased a new home or are planning to sell soon, decorating an entire home can be an overwhelming task. Where to begin? How do you arrange your furniture? What colors and fabrics will work together? How do you incorporate existing pieces with new ones? How do I select the right paint colors? Then…the million dollar question: How much will it cost? For the decorating-impaired or even those with some idea of current styles and trends, you may need an expert’s hand on how to decorate with elegance while also arranging furniture in a functional manner. There are many reasons why you should consider an interior designer. The experience, talent, and perspective of a professional interior designer will absolutely save you time, money, and the headache. From a realtor’s point of view, homes that have been professionally decorated are attractive to potential buyers and are easier to sell.
An Interior Designer Gets You The Most For Your Money
Interior Designers are masters when it comes to finding quality products and pieces at affordable prices. Yes, you pay a design fee, but that amount becomes insignificant in regards to the overall savings they bring to your home. You will also avoid costly mistakes that many homeowners tend to make as far as the frequent guess work made when decorating your home. The tips you can receive from designers related to budgeting and planning are invaluable!
You Will Get What You Want
Interior designers sit down with you to discuss at length what kind of style appeals to you and what preferences or restrictions you may have relating to your design needs. They make sure your ideas and tastes are orchestrated into an attractive display that reflect your ideas. An interior designer knows how to bring your vision to life.
Designers Don’t Just Decorate
You may think interior designers just arrange decor, furnishings, and window treatments, but that is absolutely not all that they do. They have gone to school to learn the ins and outs of everything home related, including energy efficiency, flooring applications, light fixtures, tile design, appliances, scheduling, project management, renovations and so much more! Your interior designer is a wealth of information who can inspire great ideas on so many levels.
Perfectly Meshing Multiple Styles, Textures, Colors, And Patterns
Not all styles, colors, and patterns blend together. Attempting to mix these things together on your own could create a train wreck of disastrous proportions! Your interior designer tastefully combines these elements together to create something spectacular. A good interior designer listens to the client’s preferences and mixes favorite pieces as well as personality into a perfect presentation to be proud of!
Aesthetically Pleasing No Matter Your Situation
As professional realtors, the team at Gloria Nilson knows that quality interior design is an important aspect of giving your home that cozy, personal feel for all who enter your door-no matter your situation!
There you have it! We hope you enjoyed this new perspective and the importance of realtors and designers working together to turn a house into a home!

I didn’t realize that interior designers go to school specifically to learn about all that goes into a home. It makes sense that they would know so much about how to arrange things and make them look wonderful. You would need knowledge of lighting and colors and patterns and all of those things to do it effectively. School would definitely be a good place to be able to learn how to do that.

I love that you mentioned that a good interior designer will be able to listen to their client’s desires and mix it well. This has given me relief since I am planning to hire one for our property. I just can’t do it on my own because I am not a creative person, and it is hard for me to put into reality the design that I have in mind.

I really like what you said about how interior decorators don’t just arrange decor, furniture, and window treatments. We’re moving to a new home soon and I have always wanted to hire an interior decorator since I am not the most efficient homemaker and my home has always looked pretty thrown together. Thank you for the talking about how they have a wealth of information about flooring applications, energy efficiency, appliances, and project management.

Sarah, I love how you mentioned that the overall look of a house is a major deciding factor for buyers. An interior designer’s job is to improve the look of the interior, which guarantees more success of your home on the market. If I ever sell my home, I will certainly put my trust in an interior designer to improve the interior of my home prior to selling.

It got me when you said that having an interior designer will be able to materialize the ideas we have in mind to make the display attractive. With that in mind, I will definitely hire to achieve the look that I want it to have. We will sell it to a certain a target market which will be the millennials that are why the design I have in mind is quite trendy today, so I can sell the house fast. Thanks for the tip!
