Tips for Designing a Gender Neutral Nursery
Yes friends, it’s that time of year! More babies are born in late September and early October than at any other months in the year. With baby season right around the corner, Team LI is to the rescue! Some future parents want to keep the gender of the baby a surprise, but still want to create the perfect nursery, we are here to offer 6 tips on how to design a gender neutral nursery without sacrificing the style of your space!
Choose a Theme
First things first – think of a cohesive theme for your space, something that both genders can enjoy. You can have an aquatic, travel, or animal theme. Want to keep it simple? Then base the design off of a color palette – beiges, grays, yellows, and greens are great gender neutral colors!
Bold Artwork
Hanging a statement piece will stimulate the child while also becoming a playful addition to the theme of your nursery.
Pick a Pattern
Create a fun accent wall or upholstered piece! Find a gender neutral wallpaper or fabric, like geometric shapes or polka dots. A patterned wall is always a great backdrop for a crib. A striped rocking chair can be an amazing focal point as well.
Adding Texture
Babies will touch ANYTHING they can get their cute little hands on! Try accessorizing with a fur blanket or a giant stuffed animal. If you want a rustic theme, board up a wall with reclaimed wood!
Light It Up
Mobiles are always entertaining, but install a wild pendant light to really get their attention! Midcentury or modern shapes are great gender neutral options.
Make It Unique
Once the baby is born, a personal touch will make him or her feel right at home. The baby’s name in big letters (even their initials), framed photos, or a gallery wall can certainly warm the space up.
