Location:

When deciding location consider a few things: Is the area high traffic? Is it functional? Is it wide enough for a desk? Pick a spot convenient for you. If space is limited use a room like a kitchen or find a nook. In the event there’s a spare room available claim that spot!

Picking A Desk:

Whether you’re ordering a desk or have a desk in your home to steal for your office, make sure you have enough surface area to work on. Generally, standard desk heights are 30 in and standard width is 60 in. Also, keep in mind leg room as well so you’re comfortable to work an 8 hour day.

Optimization:

Lets make the most of what you have! Once you choose a space take note of the materials needed to make this space organized. Think of what your office at work has and use those items in your office. Shelves, file trays, and storage bins are great for organizing, also note if you will be meeting with clients, ensure there is room for additional seating.

Lighting:

Natural & Artificial Lighting

Natural lighting has proved it not only gives gorgeous lighting but also provides health benefits. Place your desk where you can soak up natural light and give yourself some TLC.

Whether you prefer low-light or lots of light, desk & floor lamps are great to direct lighting where you need it.

Personalization:

Make this space your own! Get into decorating especially, add some color, decor, and things that inspire you. Accent walls or artwork particularly are great to bring color to your office. Floating shelves also help minimize clutter on your desk and are perfect for decorating!

Now, there are decor pieces that have dual purposes like, functionality and style, for example a cup for your pens doesn’t have to be boring swap a normal cup for a stylish pencil cup and voila!

Plants:

Besides being pretty, plants are known to make the air cleaner, so add some plants to your home office to liven up the space. Pick a plant based on the lighting so it’s easy to maintain and can thrive.
