The Metallics Mania Trend
Metallics were a trend in 2015 and they are not going anywhere in 2016. Brass, gold, copper, chrome, nickel, stainless steel- as long as they have that metallic sheen we are all obsessing over, they can definitely chill together. We are bringing some metallic inspiration your way that will have you wanting more metallics and mixed metals in every square inch of your home!
Here are some tips on getting the look without going overboard.
Stick with the classics
Copper and rose gold are big in kitchens and baths as well as lighting right now. Artichoke Kitchen and Baths installed this AMAZING La Cornue range and it’s spot on! They are extremely cool in a hammered texture too. Want to play it safe? Stick with the timeless metals- chrome, brass, and nickel.
Start Small
Accessories are the best way to introduce metallics into your space in small doses. They are easy to change out or move around to find the perfect balance. Try a mirrored tray like this one from West Elm, for instance.
Neutral Palette
When incorporating a lot of metallic pieces in a room, you definitely want to keep the color palette somewhat subdued. We love pairing brass with darker colors such as navy, like Emily Henderson did above. Chrome, stainless and nickel pair nicely with more modern color schemes.

Mix ‘Em Up
It’s an age-old design debate, but mixing metals can be super chic if done correctly. Generally speaking, you will want to use the same color metal. For example, gold in different textures or finishes- like polished brass, brushed brass, gold leaf, etc. Mixing chrome with other silver metals such as satin or brushed nickel is another way to go.
We like to incorporate metallic pieces and mirrors into every project. They reflect light and almost always give a dull space a more interesting and unexpected touch. So when in doubt, just go for it!
