Our Mid Century Boho Guest Room Makeover Reveal
Okay folks…here and now we are rolling out the FINISHED product of our Mid Century Boho guest bedroom makeover thanks to the AMAZING furnishings from Raymour & Flanigan. Yea, it’s kind of a big one…REVEAL that is.
Well, first things first, the delivery team was SUPER amazing and therefore the delivery and set up was seamless and uneventful. Hence, the reason why this is the only photo we snapped from excitement and anticipation as the truck pulled into the driveway.
The first and most important statement piece in the room is the Kari Bed. We are SOOO pleased with the quality…come on, just look at it! We layered the existing wall to wall carpeting with an awesome Sari silk-like area rug to add another layer of color and texture. Plus, we are kind of obsessed with Sari silk rugs at the moment (and anything Mid Century Boho…obviously). I would put Sari silk rugs all over my house if I could!
If you’re not familiar with Sari silk rugs check out this article that gives you a behind the scenes look into the step-by-step process of creating these one-of-a-kind beauties made from recycled Indian Saris.
We chose to keep the bedding simple and dress it up with pillows in a variety of colors, textures, and patterns to really make a statement. At the foot of the bed we threw in this incredible cranberry diamond patterned blanket with a sheepskin for added luxury…and boom!
Mixing patterns and textures is a great way to add interest and personality to a space while giving it a true designer look. Here are a few guidelines to help you mix patterns like a pro.
One of the coolest features of this chest/media unit is that it can do double duty. It can be used as a chest or dresser housing clothes and knickknacks, or it can be the perfect piece to set a TV atop with shelves for the components in those little nooks that we chose to fill with books. There are cutouts in the back of the nooks for cords and wires, which means…no cords to be seen! Who wouldn’t jump up and down for hidden cords? Needless to say it’s just perfect.
Truth be told, we were looking to DIY or have this string art piece commissioned by someone. Then we found this incredible artist who created EXACTLY what we had in mind for the space. Boho…YES! This piece is SO sick! We may decide to do a DIY tutorial post on creating your own string art and hanging terrariums (leave a thumbs up in the comments section if that idea tickles your fancy).
Plants are a must for all of our interior design projects. Not only do they breathe life into any space, they look amazing while keeping your family healthy too! Ferns, ivy, spider plants and mother-in-law’s tongue (AKA snake plant) all absorb CO2 and a variety of toxins in the home. The above Pothos plant is a fabulous addition to this vignette. Another MUST is the houseplant that has the spotlight in the design world right now (pictured below)-take a guess! The fiddle-leaf fig…DUH.
And…there you have it! We hope the photos translate how much fun we had designing this space in collaboration with Raymour & Flanigan. I can promise you this, every houseguest will be fighting (like heavyweight boxing) to stay in this room.
This before and after says it all!
